This process provides us with a “framework” through which we will discuss and develop a project plan, specifically designed to address the context, situation and culture of your board. In this way our design captures group and individual preferences and enables us to apply focus where the need is perceived to be greatest.
We focus intense effort at the start of our projects, to understand situation and context and design our service around your needs. Our focus during what we call the Discovery stage is on maximising value capture for you. A review consumes cost, resource, time and energy and we feel it is important your board gets the best from that investment.
Discovery informs the Development stage, where we plan and build the structural elements of the project, complete our preparation and prepare a survey or questionnaire. Some clients have survey fatigue and prefer structured interviews, in this case we will still prepare questions in collaboration with your client team such that we remain focussed on the core issues.
The Delivery stage involves us issuing the survey/questionnaire, conducting interviews and observing both board and sub-committee meetings. Analysis then follows which is an iterative process of feedback between us and your client team. We work closely in partnership with you to ensure our assessment remains balanced and accurate.
Reporting is both written and verbal. We draft a full report for discussion with your client team prior to finalising our findings in a final report. We would normally present our findings to your board through audio-visual means, be that in person or through video-conferencing.
Capturing the value of the work is crucial to making a return on your investment. We are often involved in Follow up activities, be this in assisting you with establishing priorities and implementation plans, or in supporting the implementation of recommendations as part of your boards’ development. We are sometimes asked to conduct a subsequent “review light” the following year for the purpose of assurance.
